Illinois, USA snowmobile manufacturers news press release;
3-Polaris posts lower profit, warns on full year; (Reuters) - Polaris
Industries Inc. , Thursday said first-quarter earnings fell 34 percent,
and it trimmed its full-year forecasts, saying quality problems and a
string of warm winters had weakened demand for its snowmobiles. The news
sent Polaris shares down as much as 5.2 percent on the New York
Stock Exchange, though the stock later regained some of those losses.
Polaris, which also makes all-terrain vehicles, said ongoing
efforts to reduce ATV inventories had also weighed on its quarterly
results and it warned that aggressive pricing by rivals such as Honda
(7267.T: Quote, Profile, Research) and some newer Asian competitors, and
rising gas prices, might crimp sales going forward. Read

in Wisconsin has been identified as a Rockford firefighter. Tyler Kinison

years. He was also a member of the fire department's snowmobile rescue
team. Sunday's accident happened in Boulder Junction -- about 300
miles north of Rockford. Published January 20, 2006; $3,100 reward offered for killers of 19 geese; CARY -- A $3,100 reward has been offered for information leading to the conviction of the people, possibly snowmobilers, responsible for killing at least 19 Canada geese last month on the Fox River near Cary, officials said Thursday. Residents discovered the dead birds on Dec. 10 on the frozen river near the Rawson Road bridge. The reward was offered by the Humane Society of the United States and by two local clubs, Riverbend Benders Snowmobile Club and the Snowhunters of Illinois. Illinois Conservation Police have distributed fliers and contacted repair shops to try to locate snowmobiles that may have been damaged when the geese were killed, said Chris McCloud of Illinois Department of Natural Resources."We're continuing to talk to people in the area but at this point I haven't heard of any progress," McCloud said.
